User Scenarios Minimize

Emergency Stick targets six (6) user scenarios.  To help define the scenarios we will be dealing with the following six personas:

1)  Jessica – Age: 5  (Kindergarten Student)
2)  Ethan Hunt – Age: 37    (Traveling Businessman)
3)  Mr. Smith –  Age: 65    (Elderly Gentleman)
4)  Mr. Jones - Age: 75   (Elderly Gentlemen)
5)  Nurse Kay – Age: 29    (Medical Nurse)
6)  Dr. Bill –  Age: 43    (Medical Doctor)

Scenario #1: Passive Usage Minimize
Jessica is a new student at her preschool.  All she knows about her health is that peanuts make her very ill.  Her E-Stick contains information about her allergy and reminds school personnel not to serve Jessica anything with peanuts and/or peanut derivatives.

Scenario #2: Active Usage Minimize
Ethan is a traveling businessman.  He spends most of his day on the run attending meetings and most of his night flying to other meetings.  He never remembers to take his medicine.  Every day at 11:30 his Smart Phone starts vibrating telling him he needs to remember to take his blood pressure medicine.

Scenario #3: Active Usage Minimize
Mr. Smith is an elderly gentleman who lives alone.  His Emergency Stick contains his heart attack treatment history as well as information about his current prescriptions, including Plavix, which saved his life last time he started to have a heart attack.  Three times a day his Emergency Stick  reminds him to take his medication and gives him ideas for meals he could prepare.

Scenario #4: Emergency Usage Minimize
Mr. Smith is having a heart attack.  The paramedics arrive on scene and carry him into the ambulance.  During transit, Nurse Kay takes Mr. Smith’s Emergency Stick and connects it to the Emergency Pad PDA device.  Nurse Kay then presses Mr. Smith’s thumb against the Emergency Stick to decrypt it.  The Emergency Pad then displays warning information about Mr. Smith’s allergies as well as his responsiveness to Plavix.  Mr. Smith’s life is saved because the doctors were able to access crucial health information which allowed them to make more informed decisions in an emergency situation.

Scenario #5: Post Trauma Usage Minimize
Dr. Bill works at the local hospital helping patients recover from serious traumatic experiences.  The paramedics arrive and bring in an elderly gentleman [Mr. Smith] who has just experienced a heart attack.  Dr. Bill uses his Emergency Pad and connects it to the patient’s Emergency Stick.

Dr. Bill now has access to Mr. Smith’s medical history.  He prescribes daily exercise and daily Motrin into Mr. Smith’s Emergency Stick.  Mr. Smith’s Emergency Stick will now vocally remind him about needing exercise as well as what medicine he should take and when.

Scenario #6: Emergency Usage Minimize
Mr. Jones is found wandering down the street. He is well dressed but seems confused and not acting right so he is taken to the emergency room. Dr. Bill examines the patient and considers all the things that could cause this man's condition, (stroke, heart attack, serious infection, drug ingestion, etc.)  As he begins to order all the tests to rule out these serious conditions, all of which will cost thousands of dollars, a Nurse Kay finds the Emergency Stick. The doctor can now know that the patient has advanced Alzheimer disease, and he also finds contact information and calls the place where the man lives. They are relieved to hear that he is OK and tell the doctor that this is his normal mental status. They come to pick him up, avoiding a huge hospital bill.
