Emergency Stick (E-Stick) is an application designed to provide emergency-time access to critical patient information from devices such as Pocket PCs, SmartPhones, Tablet PCs, or Desktop Computers. Currently, at-risk patients wear bracelets which provide limited information about their health condition. Emergency Stick enhances this concept so that up-to-date, critical health data is available to medical personnel in a quick and efficient manner.
Additionally, the E-Stick will provide a passive mode designed to assist individuals in remembering to perform designated tasks/activities. Text-to-Speech and voice recognition technologies will be incorporated to make the device even friendlier. The E-Stick is designed to be fully HIPAA compliant (Please see Appendix A for more information about HIPAA).
The Emergency Stick is designed primarily for the elderly, young children, highly-mobile, and at-risk individuals; however, its usefulness extends to all people.
